Dirt bikes for kids have come a long way from being “just another type of your regular everyday children bike” to the most superior bikes for children. Whereas many traditional bikes are slow, clunky and require absolute and constant monitoring of your child, dirt bikes for kids are a great first step towards independence.
I mean, sure, you still need to watch over your youngster nonetheless, but the level of comfort that comes with dirt bikes for kids is unmatched by other similar products on the market. And, if your child is destined to fall in love with the actual dirt bikes that we see on TV and our streets (only ridden by adults), dirt bikes for kids are a great way to develop that emotion from an early age!
Dirt Bikes for Kids – Sorted by Age Category
In case you are looking for a good place that will teach you everything you need to know about dirt bikes for kids and, at the same time, everything you need to know about the buying process of dirt bikes for kids as well – this is the place for you! We’ve compiled a list of “best buy” dirt bikes for kids in 2018 and we sorted all of these models into 10 different categories. A dirt bike that is designed for a 3-year old will not be as good (or won’t be good at all) of a choice for a 7-year old.
There are also a couple more notes before we begin. First off, we didn’t rank these products and, in our eyes, all of these dirt bikes for kids are great in their own way. At the same time, none of these models are perfect either. As you will see, each and every one of these dirt bikes for kids has its own pros and cons and, at the same time, none of them (necessarily) has a perfect user rating either.
Even the best dirt bikes in the world could end up being a complete failure for some people and, on the other hand, some really bad dirt bikes for kids could work out perfectly in some cases. There’s no general rule there. Also, these dirt bikes for kids weren’t necessarily made in 2018, they are the best dirt bikes for kids to buy in 2018 (hence the name of the guide).
If everything was clear until this point, it’s time to get down to business right now!
Dirt Bikes for 3-5 Year Old Kids
Electric Kids Ride On Motorcycle Dirt Bike (Best Choice Products)
If this age category is the most appropriate one for the first dirt bike and if we take a look at all these different dirt bikes for kids, this is a perfect first choice for a children dirt bike as well. When you search for different dirt bikes for kids in this age group, this will be one of the top choices to select. And with a good reason!
Not only that this dirt bike for kids looks great (you could tell that is an entry-level dirt bike), it’s also very easy to assemble and it has a very nice learning curve.
This dirt bike comes equipped with a very durable ABS plastic construction and it’s able to withstand many tough conditions that a road can bring. This dirt bike for kids is also ASTM-certified as well. The child doesn’t need to worry about the ever-boring pedaling mechanic as this dirt bike comes up with a 6V rechargeable battery that can last for hours on end (once fully charged).
The speed can go up to 3 km/h but, you also have an option to turn on the Training Mode that will, hopefully, teach your child how to cope with this dirt bike (and, really, all other dirt bikes for kids as well) at a minimal speed.
There are 2 color variations when it comes to this dirt bike for kids – green and red. Both look really nice and they are covered up with some awesome visuals that just make this model look even better. The dirt bike is also equipped with headlights that allow your child to enjoy some nice night rides as well and, at the same, the auxiliary jack will allow the child to listen to his/her favorite music while riding along this beautiful baby as well. So, really, your child has every reason to have a blast with this one!
Not that many dirt bikes for kids can give you such great mix of comfort, price and value and that is exactly why we recommend this particular product as well. Not only that it’s a great entry point for all dirt bikes for kids in general, this model is able to deliver a long-lasting quality and it’s able to educate and entertain your child without the need for your constant action. Which is exactly what you should aim for – the starting point that (eventually) leads to complete independence.
- Out of all the different dirt bikes for kids, this is a great starting choice and it comes packed with plenty of different features for a dirt bike that is designed for 3-5-year olds (the auxiliary jack is our favorite!).
- It comes with a great and reachable price.
- This dirt bike is able to provide both stability and durability in the long run.
- I feel that the choice of colors could’ve been better. While both green and red look nice, I would like to see some more popular choices like blue and/or black, for example.
- A child might notice some (minor) balance issues after some time.
CRF250R 6V Powered Ride-on Dirt Bike (Generic)
This is one of the newer dirt bikes for kids on the market and it still needs to “survive” the test of time (long-term speaking) but, based on what we’ve seen so far, it won’t be that hard to do that at all. Even though this particular model may not be the most appropriate first choice for a dirt bike, it’s still a great solution and one of the best dirt bikes for kids that you can get in this age group.
This dirt bike has a very modern design (you can see it from the very first sight) and it comes with a set of training wheels, a fully rechargeable 6V battery and a very durable motor. Unlike many other dirt bikes for kids from this age category, this one is really designed with the vision of creating an exact replica of the actual dirt bikes that the adults are riding.
It has a working horn and the sound that the engine is making after starting up the dirt bike is truly amazing…you would never say that this is a children dirt bike after you get to hear it! The uptime period is about 1.5 hours on average and the speed can range anywhere between 1 and 3 mph (this appears to be the default value when it comes to all dirt bikes for kids in this age group also). The charger is, of course, already provided with the dirt bike by the manufacturer.
Even though the previous dirt bike was, in my opinion, a better solution for the very first dirt bike for kids, this is a great alternative and, once again, you absolutely can’t go wrong if you decide to get this one. Not only that the child will love the visual aspects of this one, it will also have one of the coolest-looking dirt bikes for kids around (especially when it comes to this age group). And, on top of that, your child will be able to improve his/her motoric skills and get a proper sense of balance with a certain degree of independence. And, as we noted, that is exactly what you should strive for.
- This is yet another product that we have to put in the “best buy” category when it comes to dirt bikes for kids as this model also has an outstanding mix of price and value.
- This dirt bike comes equipped with an amazing design concept and even more amazing visuals (yes, the red color really works well here).
- This model provides both the great stability and the great durability in the long run.
- This dirt bike doesn’t have a reverse mode at all.
- The uptime could definitely be better.
Dirt Bikes for 6 Year Old Kids
Dynacraft BMX Street/Dirt Bike (Hot Wheels)
You know, choosing the best dirt bikes for kids is not an easy task. And buying these dirt bikes for kids is not a joke either. Sometimes, the parents are very reluctant to buy dirt bikes for kids and they prefer the traditional bikes instead.
The manufacturers of dirt bikes for kids know about this and that is why we have many “combo” dirt bikes for kids that combine the functionalities of classic dirt bikes for kids and the regular bikes. These bikes can end up being really good and/or really bad. Luckily, Dynacraft BMX Street/Dirt Bike from Hot Wheels is on the good side and, in fact, it’s so good that it really deserved a spot on our list of best dirt bikes for kids in 2018.
As you may guess, even though this is a dirt bike, it has many default features that the regular bikes have. Yes, it uses pedals too. The structure is identical to the one that you can find in regular bikes and the visuals reflect the level of awesomeness that you can expect from good dirt bikes for kids.
Just like in the previous 2 dirt bikes for kids, this one comes with its own set of training wheels, a strong and durable front hand + a set of rear coaster brakes. This model doesn’t require any batteries so the child will be able to ride it indefinitely and the maximum supported weight is 81 lbs. Another thing that I’d like to point out is that, unlike the traditional dirt bikes for kids, this model has a lifetime warranty on frame and fork. So, whenever something bad happens to those two, you have yourself covered.
If you want a traditional dirt bike for your 6-year-old child, this is definitely not the model for you. But, if you want something between a regular bike and a true dirt bike, this model is our hot recommendation. The way it looks and the way it is ridden will surely make your child satisfied for quite some time.
- If you want a good mix of a regular bike and a traditional dirt bike for kids, this is the model for you. This dirt bike looks great and it brings an extraordinary quality for a very minimal price.
- Unlike the classic dirt bikes for kids, this one requires no batteries and it can be ridden indefinitely.
- A lifetime warranty on frame and fork is included with the product by default.
- This model definitely lacks the functionalities that make the “regular” dirt bikes for kids (even more) amazing.
- It’s hard to tell the difference between the traditional bikes and this dirt bike in particular. And, also, it’s only suitable for a male child.
24V Mini Quad ATV Dirt Motor Bike (Titan)
This is yet another unconventional dirt bike for a 6-year-old but, it got my vote based on its uniqueness, design, stability and a long-term durability that comes with it. I would even say that you have the most unique dirt bikes for kids in this category…and this is definitely a proof for that.
Unlike the traditional dirt bikes for kids, this one is more on the “extreme sports” side of things but it can be ridden anywhere really – from the backyard to a driveway. It comes with a huge weight capacity (150 lbs) and the speed can go up to 10 mph. The motor is, naturally, much stronger than the one we can see in traditional dirt bikes for kids and this model requires two 12v12 amp/hour batteries in order to function properly.
Of course, since this is not really a first dirt bike that you are giving to your child, it has one more unique feature that you are unlikely to find in regular dirt bikes for kids – parental controls. You can control the maximum speed of this thingie with just one single button. This is a great way to ensure that your child doesn’t go into “overdrive” mode and an even better way to keep your loved one as safe as possible.
If you don’t have a limited budget and if you want one of the unique dirt bikes for kids, this is the model that you should at least consider. There is always a risk that the child will prefer one of the more traditional dirt bikes for kids but, the chances are greater that he/she will fall in love with it instantly. This love will lead to hours of countless fun and you will know that you did a great job as a parent because you gave your youngster a powerful but effective toy that will be both entertaining and unique at the same time.
- Unlike the traditional dirt bikes for kids, this one brings both the uniqueness and quality as well.
- This dirt bike looks great and it can be ridden anywhere – from the child’s backyard to a driveway.
- Parental controls are included to ensure additional safety.
- Unlike the classic dirt bikes for kids, this one has a really high learning curve and it’s not made for every 6-year-old child.
- This dirt bike is very expensive and some people are just not able to afford it.
Dirt Bikes for 7 Year Old Kids
Ryan Dungey Battery Powered 12V Motocross Dirt Bike (Beyond Infinity)
It’s time to return to the more traditional dirt bikes for kids. Children of this age are going to school already so they deserve a proper dirt bike that doesn’t look like a toy (we should at least aim for that).
Ryan Dungey Battery Powered 12V Motocross Dirt Bike is one of the top dirt bikes for kids in this age group. The manufacturer (sadly) didn’t provide plenty of information on the page that we linked above but, the number of satisfied customers says enough. This dirt bike looks really great and a mix of orange, black and white is what really makes it stand out from the other dirt bikes for kids in this age group.
Just like the other dirt bikes for kids, this one also requires you to assemble it first but, the great news is that the whole process is really straightforward. It can be done within an hour or two and the bike is ready to be ridden already.
The batteries are bundled with the product already and, once charged, they last quite a long time. In some cases, they are able to hold up more than 2 hours on a regular basis. The bike is designed even for younger children as well but, statistically speaking, it gives the best results when ridden by 7-year-olds which is why we placed it in this category.
Even though this is definitely not a great first choice for a dirt bike (it’s really recommended that your child already has some experience with dirt bikes), it’s still a fantastic choice for a 7-year-old.
For roughly $100, you get a very durable dirt bike that will keep your child active and entertained for hours on end. As a side-note, we should also add that, unlike many other dirt bikes for kids, this one can go backward and it has the reverse gear added on! So, if you were in doubt whether to look for other dirt bikes for kids or stick with this one, I hope this fact helped you out!
- This is a great and affordable dirt bike that is able to bring both the long-term durability and the long-term quality at the same time.
- It comes with a great visual design.
- Unlike many other dirt bikes for kids, this one is equipped with reverse gear as well (which means that it can go backwards too).
- The product description provided by the manufacturer is a bit lacking.
- The dirt bike itself could’ve been a bit bigger.
Drift ZX Dirt Bike (Injusa)
The biggest upside of this European-made dirt bike is its simplicity. When looking for particular dirt bikes for kids, some parents will want to buy dirt bikes for kids that have all sorts of advanced features but, on the other hand, some parents will be satisfied with the more basic dirt bikes for kids.
A classic model that comes with a great quality and a great mix of price and quality is a universally accepted solution for many people and that is exactly what this model is all about.
This dirt bike comes with a set of training wheels which are perfectly designed for a kid who is inexperienced with dirt bikes for kids in general (and that can, indeed, happen even with a 7-year-old kid).
The design is very straightforward but robust enough to ensure a long-term balance and stability. The bike has a solid uptime once fully charged (about 2 hours on average) but the max speed is only 4 mph.
Unlike the previous model, this one has no reverse gear and it’s slightly more expensive but, at the same time, it’s much more catered towards beginners when it comes to dirt bikes for kids. And, on the other hand, this is a dirt bike that can be used even by kids who are younger than 7 as well. So, it does have that sort of additional flexibility.
To sum this up shortly, if you want a quality dirt bike that comes with a fairly simplistic design and if your child has just turned 7, this is a model that you should certainly consider. It is a bit more expensive than it should be but, on the market where the competition becomes tougher with each and every day, this dirt bike certainly gets our vote.
- This is one of those dirt bikes for kids that are able to offer a very simple design and a great quality on top of it.
- Even though the dirt bike can be effectively used by 7-year-old children, it’s very heavily geared towards all children who never experienced dirt bikes for kids before.
- It can be used by younger children as well (as we noted above) since the manufacturer states that the bike is designed for all children who are at least 3 years old. That is the bottom-line.
- The speed can only go up to 4 mph.
- In general, given the whole simplistic approach to this product, a child will eventually want more from his/her dirt bike.
Dirt Bikes for 8 Year Old Kids
Jetson Jr. Electric Bike for Kids (Jetson)
When looking for different dirt bikes for kids on Amazon, you will easily find dirt bikes for kids designed for 3-5-year-olds and dirt bikes for older kids in general (12 years and up) but everything in between will turn out to be quite difficult. In fact, you may find proper dirt bikes for kids in that category but many of them will either have very bad user reviews or you will simply end up gambling because you don’t have enough info.
Speaking of dirt bikes for 8-year-olds, Jetson Jr. Electric Bike for Kids is one of the best dirt bikes for kids that you can buy in this category. Even though it looks fairly small, this dirt bike is equipped with plenty of features that will make the riding process both entertaining and (somewhat) educational at the same time. And it looks amazing as well.
Speaking of these features, in particular, this is a fully electric-operated dirt bike and it can be started (and shut down) with a single press of a button (switch). Surprisingly enough, it doesn’t come with training wheels (the very design suggests that at first sight) but the learning curve is very nicely balanced and, even if your child is still inexperienced with dirt bikes for kids, he/she will easily learn how to cope with this one.
Just like many other dirt bikes for kids, you need a 24V rechargeable battery (it comes bundled with the product, no worries) that is fully charged. The whole process takes about 2-3 hours and the average uptime of this dirt bike is also around 2 hours on average.
Another handy addition is that you can also see the status of your battery via the integrated battery indicator so there is no risk that the child will be caught off-guard. When it comes to the speed itself, there are two different options, the bike can go up to 6 mph and/or up to 10 mph, depending on your choice.
As the manufacturer states that this bike can be used by children who are between 8 and 14 years old, I would highly recommend sticking to 6 mph for now and, if your child likes the bike and keeps using it as he/she grows, the speed can always be switched to 10 mph.
In a somewhat limited choice of dirt bikes for kids in this age group, this model gets one of our top votes, no doubt about that. Even though there are limitations (just like anywhere), I believe that this is a fairly safe choice and that neither you nor your child will regret the decision in the end.
- A great mix of price and value is something that really stands out with this dirt bike as well.
- It has a very nice learning curve, it’s mostly already pre-assembled and the child can quickly cope with it even without previous experience with dirt bikes for kids.
- The design is also really nice.
- Personally, I don’t like the choice of colors for male children (the female ones are great).
- The plastic is not as durable as the one that comes with some other dirt bikes for kids.
Limited Edition Black on Silver 105CC Mini Bike with Front Suspension (Monster Motto)
From the very first looks of it, unlike some dirt bikes for kids that we described above, this one screams luxury right away but, the price really dictates the overall quality as well, no doubt about that.
Even though it doesn’t use plenty of different colors, this kind of black-and-white combination really sells it. Just like the previous dirt bike, this one is also pre-assembled already and you only need to attach the handlebars to make your child is ready to go.
This is a really robust bike and it comes with a pretty tough 105cc engine but also with some outstanding additions that are built to increase the safety to a whole new level – a heat shield, engine stop switch, and a chain guard. The bike can easily last more than a decade due to its heavily reinforced structure and, at the same time, it’s able to withstand many road obstacles (in the long run) as well.
Speaking of speed, the bike can go up to 23 mph! While that is truly stunning, it may also be potentially dangerous. If the child never had any experience with dirt bikes for kids before, you should really be careful here and monitor him/her at all times.
At the same time, it should be noted that there is no set age restriction when it comes to this dirt bike. Unlike many other dirt bikes for kids that have documented recommendations from the manufacturer itself, that is not the case here.
We have plenty of 10+-year-old children using the dirt bike successfully but we also have plenty of 8-year-olds using it and even some children younger than 8 as well. I would say that 8 is definitely the perfect age to get this dirt bike but, you should also be there and teach your child how to use it properly. Later on, you should act as a proper sidekick and a mentor as well, just like with other dirt bikes for kids.
If you don’t have an issue with the price of this dirt bike and with the fact that this is not a dirt bike that is geared towards beginners, this is one of the best dirt bikes for kids that you can buy. Period. You will get what you are looking for (for that price) and you will also get a dirt bike that you can use in the following years as your child grows as well. So, a great investment for the future as well.
- This is one of the best dirt bikes for kids that you buy for your child.
- It’s reinforced and robust design ensures the long-term safety, quality, and durability as well. This bike is designed to withstand even the harshest obstacles on the road.
- This model can be used by both younger and older children with just as much success.
- The price is definitely a downside. Even though it does give you the needed quality, this is a dirt bike that is not designed for people with limited budgets.
- It has a relatively high learning curve and the fact that it can go up to 23 mph requires you to pay constant attention to your child.
Dirt Bikes for 9 Year Old Kids
Cross X-Force Pro 50 Sports Scooter Motor (Kuberg)
As the child grows older, you need to get him/her a dirt bike that provides enough quality and durability to cope with this tendency. Cross X-Force Pro 50 Sports Scooter Motor is exactly the type of dirt bikes for kids that I would buy for my own child as well. Not only that the bike looks stunning (yet very simple in its nature), it’s also able to provide that top quality that we all want and need.
This dirt bike comes with 8 kW of rough power and a pretty tough engine that is designed to put the riding skills of your child to the ultimate test. Unlike the previously described dirt bikes for kids, this one is designed for “racing” purposes (or sort of racing purposes) so have that in mind if you want to buy some of the more regular dirt bikes for kids.
The speed can quickly get out of hand if the child is pushing it. Other than that, the seat is very comfortable and it’s equipped with both the feet brakes and the hand brakes to ensure maximum safety. We could say that the brake system is quite advanced compared to many other dirt bikes for kids and that’s a great thing.
As usual, you need to charge the batteries to make this dirt bike running (just like all the other dirt bikes for kids) and, once they’re fully charged, you can ride the bike up to one hour which is slightly less uptime compared to the previously described dirt bikes for kids. To compensate for that, the manufacturer made the batteries swappable and they’ve also added some sweet additions like the Wi-Fi connectivity and the ability to track down some truly precious info via a special smartphone application. The Wi-Fi adapter will have to be bought separately, though.
If you get over the fact that this dirt bike is made for children who are already experienced with dirt bikes for kids and the fact that there’s not much uptime with a single set of batteries, there’s one more factor that can stop you from getting this bike – the price. It’s truly astronomical and one should definitely question his/her priorities as well as the priorities of his/her child before making the final purchase.
But, if you do have this amount of money and if you want a top-quality dirt bike for kids that could make your child adapt to the more “sportish” dirt bikes for kids, by all means, go for it! This kind of quality is hardly seen in many other dirt bikes for kids.
- This is one of the best dirt bikes for kids to go for in this age group.
- Even though a bit unconventional, this model has a very high safety rate and it’s designed to make your child experience some higher speeds as well.
- It comes with some amazing additions that many other dirt bikes for kids are lacking – like the Wi-Fi connectivity.
- The price is extremely high and that is the biggest limiting factor thus far.
- Just like some other previously described dirt bikes for kids, this is not a suitable model for children who did not have any previous exposure to dirt bikes for kids in general.
Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike (Razor)
Razor is a well-known name in the market for dirt bikes for kids and, if you already have some experience with these products, you are likely aware of it. Pretty much all dirt bikes for kids made by Razor are all about safety, quality, and longevity and, this particular dirt bike is no exception. That is exactly why we have every right to add it to this list of “best buy” dirt bikes for kids in 2018.
The design of this dirt bike is very minimalistic but it comes with all features that a good dirt bike needs to have. First of all, the quality of steel and metal that are (both) used to build this bike is absolutely top-notch. This dirt bike comes with a 500-Watt motor that provides sufficient power even for the most demanding riders.
The same thing applies to the huge pneumatic tires that are able to assert that power very well. On top of that, a dual suspension system and the specially designed handlebars will ensure that your child doesn’t have exciting rides only but also the rides that will be fully comfortable at the same time.
You will need 3 different 12V batteries to run this dirt bike and the charging takes a while (it can take up to 12 hours). The uptime is only about 40 minutes according to the manufacturer and this is really what I see as the biggest downside. Most other dirt bikes for kids can hold up to 2 hours once fully charged and even the charging process is not that long. But, if you can wrap your head around that, it won’t be a huge issue in the long run.
Also, you might see the part where it is claimed that the bike is made for 14+-year-olds but we can assure you that this is not the case. In fact, it’s mostly because this dirt bike can hold up to 175 pounds so, someone figured out that, in this case, we are talking about older children. We are not! In fact, it has been documented that even the children who are younger than 9 can use this dirt bike with just as much as success as older children so, while we are recommending this dirt bike for a 10-year-old, you should know that this is a flexible solution for younger kids as well.
Even though just like all other dirt bikes for kids, this one also has its share of pros and cons, if you are willing to spend $449, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t choose this dirt bike. Your child will get a quality and long-term dirt bike that has no risk of being outgrown in the near future and, on top of that, the child will be 100% safe while playing around with his/her new toy. What else can you hope for!?
- Not only that this is one of the best dirt bikes for kids that you can buy in 2018, it’s also one of the best dirt bikes for kids made by Razor as well.
- The materials are top-notch and they provide both the long-term safety and the long-term enjoyment as well.
- This dirt bike can hold up to 175 pounds which adds it to the pool of dirt bikes for kids that can be used by both the children who are younger than 9 and those who are older than 9 as well.
- The charging takes too long and it takes about 12 hours on average to get your batteries ready.
- The uptime is only 40 minutes (roughly).
Dirt Bikes for 10 Year Old Kids
Razor MX650 Rocket Electric Motocross Bike (Razor)
So, your child is now 10 years old…congratulations! But, along with having a bigger child, it’s now also important to buy some of the bigger dirt bikes for kids to stack up to this new condition! And what better way to do that than sticking around with one of the strongest brands of dirt bikes for kids nowadays – Razor.
MX650 is a very similar model to the one that we described above. The difference? Well, this one has a bigger weight support and it’s specifically designed for children who are (at least) 10 years old. So, while MX500 can even be used by children who are as young as 7, that is not the case with MX650. Oh well, at least not typically.
Other than that, the design patterns are completely identical. This one also has an astounding mix of steel and plastic and it’s also designed with a strong focus on durability and comfort. At the same time, you will once again need 3 x 12V batteries that will have to be charged up to 12 hours in order to use the dirt bike.
And, at the same time, the uptime is (sadly) once again roughly 40-45 minutes. So the downsides of the previous model are present in this one as well, sadly…..but, that doesn’t make this dirt bike any worse. On the contrary!
So, what is the difference? The weight support is now 220 pounds instead of 175 pounds and the engine is more powerful as well – this dirt bike is equipped with a 650-Watt engine which is just enough to keep up with any riding challenge that can be created by a child of this age.
If you already bought Razor MX500 for your 9-years-old child and now you want a new bike – this is your best bet. It is also your best bet even if you are just looking for the best dirt bikes for kids in this age group as well. As long as you get over its downsides and are able to afford it, there are no true limits that cannot be conquered with this dirt bike!
- As a true brand that Razor is, these folks managed to add one more product to the (already vast) pool of best dirt bikes for kids. This model can also promise great quality, safety and durability just like its predecessor.
- The dirt bike has a really strong engine as well as a great weight support that is perfectly suitable for an older child.
- The warranty is also bigger with this one.
- Just like the previously described model, the charging takes too long and it takes about 12 hours on average to get your batteries ready.
- Once again, the uptime is only 40 minutes (roughly).
Gas Powered Mini Trail Bike (Coleman Powersports)
If, by any means, you are not satisfied with the dirt bikes for kids from Razor (that we suggested above) and/or if you want a more simplistic dirt bike for your 10-year-old child, this model from Coleman Powersports is one of those dirt bikes for kids that we can strongly recommend.
One would expect that this dirt bike has a somewhat higher learning curve (as, after all, we are talking about a dirt bike that is made for an older child) but it’s actually really low. Even if your child never had any experience with dirt bikes for kids, he/she will easily learn how to cope with this model.
It comes with a 98cc 3.0HP engine and with a set of low-pressure tires that provide sufficient stability on all kinds of different terrains. At the same time, the engine has a very nostalgic design but it has plenty of power that can cope even with children who are 14+ years old. The weight capacity is 150 lbs and that is perfectly suitable for a child of this age.
In general, if you are looking for a reachable and affordable dirt bike for your 10-year-old, this model definitely gets my recommendation. On the other hand, be aware that some advanced functionalities may be missing compared to some other dirt bikes for kids (like the dirt bike above that was designed by Razor). It may not matter in the long run but, if your child wants a more “fancy” dirt bike, you definitely need some additional reconsiderations before buying this dirt bike.
- This dirt bike for kids has a very simplistic and smooth design that favors safety and stability above everything else.
- It has a very nice learning curve even for absolute beginners who are not familiar with dirt bikes for kids whatsoever.
- It is one of the most affordable dirt bikes for kids in this age group.
- It lacks some features that some more advanced dirt bikes for kids have on a regular basis.
- The uptime is not fixed and it can vary quite a bit.
Dirt Bikes for 11 Year Old Kids
Dirt Bike DB10 (TAO)
As we stated at the very beginning, we will not rank any of these dirt bikes for kids based on a particular category. But, if I would rank the names of these dirt bikes for kids, I would probably put this one near the very top. It’s always great to see nice and simple titles, it makes the products more memorable as well.
Other than that, this is a really great dirt bike for an 11-year-old. There’s no set limit for an age when it comes to this dirt bike but, looking at other people’s experiences, we can safely say that this is a great dirt bike for children who are between 8 and 12 years old. And 11 is surely a perfect age.
The bike comes with a 110cc air-cooled engine that provides plenty of power to cope with all kinds of different terrains and that provides sufficient uptime that will make the child’s rides lengthy, safe and comfortable at the same time.
There are front brakes as well as rear brakes as well so the child is able to have an easy choice when it comes to what kind of brakes he/she is more comfortable with. The dirt bike is fully automatic and the speed can go up to 25 mph even which is quite a lot at this point. The child (and you as a parent as well) should definitely be careful here in case this is his/her first dirt bike so far.
You definitely can’t go wrong with this dirt bike. It’s designed almost universally and it will very likely be a good fit for all kinds of different riders. Still, as always, I recommend you check out our list of pros and cons for the given product as well as the other dirt bikes for kids that we listed here so that you can get a better insight of what you should buy at the very end.
- This is a very nicely designed dirt bike that we can recommend to anyone who is looking for great dirt bikes for kids (especially for children who are 11 years old).
- The concept is almost completely universal which is a great thing.
- The dirt bike is very easy to cope with and it looks great (from a visual standpoint).
- In my opinion, the price should be a little lower.
- The product description provided by the manufacturer is lacking.
Dirt Rocket SX500 McGrath Electric Motocross Bike (Razor)
SX500 is another very hot pick and it’s very suitable for an 11-year-old. It’s even directly inspired by the great Jeremy McGrath himself! As usual, all Razor’s dirt bikes for kids are designed with having all the necessary qualities in mind – safety, quality, and comfort.
SX500 comes with a very powerful engine, a dual suspension system, hand operated dual disc brakes, a retractable kickstand, and fairly huge pneumatic tires. The weight support is once again very decent (175 lbs is the full capacity) and the speed can go up to 15 mph. The visual design is stunning and is very hardly matched by other (similar) dirt bikes for kids.
Unfortunately, the downsides are (once again) the same as the ones we saw in the 2 previous models – it takes quite a long time to charge your batteries (up to 12 hours) and the average uptime is only about 45 minutes. Sadly, this appears to be the standard for most of their dirt bikes for kids and it’s really the only major issue I have with them.
As long as you can get over the paragraph above, this will surely one of the very best dirt bikes for kids that you can buy. You absolutely get what you pay for and you can rest assured that the child will have everything to hang around with one of the best dirt bikes for kids in a safe and productive way.
- Razor is a synonym for quality when it comes to dirt bikes for kids and this model is no exception.
- This dirt bike has all the needed qualities that one successful product has to include – safety, quality and comfort.
- The visuals are stunning and some of the best that Razor designed thus far.
- Yet again, the charging takes too long and it takes about 12 hours on average to get your batteries ready.
- The uptime is only 40-45 minutes (once again).
Dirt Bikes for 12 Year Old Kids
4-Stroke 40CC Kids Gas Pocket Bike (V-Fire)
As children keep growing, they need more stability and comfort coming from their dirt bikes for kids. The manufacturers know all this and that is why they do their best to keep up with the latest trends. Some are able to deliver and some are not. Luckily for all of us, this dirt bike from V-Fire is surely capable of delivering.
On the first look, this is certainly one of those dirt bikes for kids that looks and acts like a true dirt bike for adults. And it’s not really that far off. With this model, you are getting a true 4-stroke 40cc dirt bike that behaves like a real dirt bike for adults. All the frames are designed from pure steel and they are able to provide a fantastic durability in the long run.
On top of that, the seat is very comfortable and the child will be able to sit on it even for hours on end without feeling any pain and/or another discomfort. The speed is variable and it can depend on the child’s weight, the type of terrain as well as the driving style but it can go up to 20 mph in ideal conditions.
If that’s not enough, unlike the previously described dirt bikes for kids, this one is EPA certified which means that even the Environmental Protection Agency guarantees that the dirt bike is absolutely safe and it doesn’t pose any health risk to your child. At the same time, it’s not toxic to the environment either so the child will be able to ride it freely and without any worry.
This is one of the most ideal dirt bikes for kids that I can recommend. A 12-year-old child is more than likely going to have a blast with this one and the (potential) downsides are so minor that I really wouldn’t pay any (special) attention to them. If you’re determined to buy it after reading these lines, I can only say “Go for it”!
- This is one of the best dirt bikes for kids that you can get for your 12-year-old.
- This product has a great mix of price and value and it’s able to provide both the long-term quality and the long-term durability. On top of that, the seat is very comfortable and the child can sit there for hours without feeling pain and discomfort.
- Unlike many other dirt bikes for kids, this one has an EPA certification so, not only that it is perfectly safe for your child, it’s also very environment-friendly as well.
- This is not really a major issue but I would like to have a choice of different colors other than just one (blue).
- In order to handle this bike properly, your child will need some previous experience with dirt bikes for kids in general.
Dirt Bike DB14 (TAO)
Dirt Bike DB10 was as universal as it could get but, the manufacturers had to ensure that the newest model fits the older children even better. Hence why Dirt Bike DB14 is basically, just a retweaked version of the previously mentioned dirt bike. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
That is a sentence that applies to this dirt bike perfectly. Once again, you can expect a really strong performance thanks to its 110cc 4-stroke air-cooled engine. The flexibility is also at the highest level (yet again) and the bike is able to cope with many different terrains. At the same time, the riding is very smooth as the dirt bike is fully automatic and the child will have the comfort of using both the hand brakes and the foot brakes as well.
So what is the actual difference between Dirt Bike DB10 and Dirt Bike DB14? Well, this one has a somewhat bigger weight support and a bigger speed as well – it can go up to 30 mph. The design philosophy is completely identical but this one is more properly tweaked to hold the children who are 12 years old (and/or even the older children if needed).
If you already have an experience with Dirt Bike 10 and/or if you want a truly universal dirt bike, you should certainly give this model a chance. Not that many dirt bikes for kids have such a great mix of newbie-friendly concepts and the concepts that are geared towards more demanding children. And, for this money, it’s really well worth it.
- This is one of the most universal dirt bikes for kids that you can find.
- It has a great mix of price and quality just like its predecessor.
- It’s very easy to handle and it provides a great performance.
- Other than the bigger speed and the bigger weight support, there are not many other improvements compared to its predecessor.
- Even though I noted that the price is well worth it, I feel that it should’ve been a bit lower in this case as well (especially when compared to other dirt bikes for kids).
Dirt Bikes for 13 Year Old Kids
Dirt bike 125cc with a semi-auto clutch (Coolster)
We’ve almost reached the end of our list of “best buy” dirt bikes for kids in 2018 and, when we speak of the 13-year-old children, we can already imagine some kind of a “beast” from our dirt bike. Indeed, this dirt bike from Coolster is surely one hell of a bike, especially when compared to the previous dirt bikes for kids.
First of all, I have to note, forget about any newbie-friendly features here, this dirt bike is not only designed for children who already experienced numerous different dirt bikes for kids, it’s also designed for children who already have some kind of a higher skill set when it comes to handling dirt bikes for kids. You absolutely have to keep this in mind when buying this model.
Other than that, I can’t put enough praises for its sleek and modern design that just shines with elegance. The engine is a 125cc model with an air cooler that will allow the dirt bike to exhibit a very high performance and without overheating even during the very lengthy rides. The max weight support is 220 lbs and the speed can go up to 40 and even 45 mph. So, as we said, this is certainly not a toy to play with!
If your child has outgrown other dirt bikes for kids and if he/she is looking for a new challenge in this category, you should certainly give this dirt bike a chance. But, if your child is still not skilled enough with dirt bikes for kids and if you feel that he/she is still not able to cope with them properly on his/her own, I would advise getting some other dirt bikes for kids instead. Nonetheless, though, this is still a great choice and if you have the money and you want to buy a true high-end dirt bike for your child, this is the one to go for.
If you are looking for “the next step” when it comes to dirt bikes for kids, this is the right model for you….and your child.
Compared to many similar dirt bikes for kids, this one provides an exceptionally strong performance and it provides a great durability in virtually all given circumstances.
The design is also top-notch as well.
- Unless your child is skilled enough and unless he/she has enough experience with dirt bikes for kids, you shouldn’t even bother getting this one.
- The speed can go above the certain standards that were set for all dirt bikes for kids so unless the child is careful, this can be a true danger as well.
Dirt bike 70cc Semi-Automatic (Coolster)
And here’s another model from Coolster. Just like the previous one, this dirt bike is also designed for children who are experienced with dirt bikes for kids. Once that is the case, the child can get quite a lot from this model and it can even be the starting point that would (one day) lead towards the actual dirt bike that is ridden by adults.
As you can imagine, the design concepts of these two dirt bikes for kids are very similar. The two major differences are associated with the engine and the (max) speed. In the first case, the engine that comes with this dirt bike is a 70cc semi-automatic engine that is (once again) enhanced with an air cooler.
On the other hand, if you thought that 45 mph is a blast when it comes to speed…you should know that this one is capable of exceeding that! This dirt bike can go up to 50-55 mph! At this point, we could question ourselves whether we can even speak of dirt bikes for kids in this case. But, as I said, unlike the “conventional” dirt bikes for kids, this model is definitely not recommended for children who are not experienced and skilled enough with the entry-level dirt bikes for kids as well as mid-level dirt bikes for kids.
Other than that, the visual design is, yet again, simply marvelous and it’s certainly one of the best ones that I ever saw in dirt bikes for kids. The seat is also extremely comfortable and, in my opinion, this is what all dirt bikes for kids should strive for when it comes to the overall comfort. The bike can hold up to amazing 50 kg and it can deliver perfectly on almost any type of terrain (when handled properly, that is).
What I wrote about the previous dirt bike stands for this one as well – If your child never experienced any dirt bikes before and if it’s not familiar with the most basic concepts, I would definitely recommend avoiding this dirt bike. It’s very powerful, yes, but as they say, “with great power comes great responsibility”.
If that is not the case and if your child already experienced plenty of different dirt bikes already (and/or even if the child only had one dirt bike but is already familiar with the whole concept), this is certainly one of the dirt bikes for kids that you can buy. Not only that it’s capable of delivering a very powerful performance, this dirt bike can also be viewed as “the next step” towards the actual dirt bikes for adults. And, when the child is enjoying dirt bikes for kids already, that is a logical next step in his riding evolution.
- This is one of the most powerful dirt bikes for kids and certainly one of the best choices for a 13 years old (provided that he/she is already experienced with the concept).
- The bike comes with a great design, an even better sense of comfort and an exceptionally good stability.
- The price is high but it definitely has a value to support it.
- Unless the child is already experienced with dirt bikes for kids, this model should not be considered whatsoever.
- The speed is definitely way too high (the max speed) even for a 13-year-old child.
Dirt Bikes for 14 Year Old Kids
D8-X18 125cc Dirt Bike (Apollo)
We have 2 more dirt bikes for kids left to go through and, we can already say that the last 2 dirt bikes for kids on our list are the models that can safely be used by young adults as well. At this point, it’s really a good idea to get your child familiar with dirt bikes for kids because these models are no toys!
D8-X18 is a very good choice for a 14-year-old. It’s a “serious” dirt bike that is built with a heavy focus on safety and quality. At the same time, we could easily say that the goal was to make a dirt bike that is capable of providing a high-quality performance in various different environments. And, you know what, they did succeed!
Many people are biased when it comes to the products that are made in China but Apollo’s dirt bikes for kids serve as a testament to the quality and, in reality, I never saw a bad dirt bike made by this company.
Speaking of more details about this particular bike, we should say that this is a 125cc dirt bike with 4 strokes and a single cylinder. It also has two different sets of brakes (one on the front and one on the back) and both of them are hydraulic.
The engine is air-cooled and the dirt bike has to be “kick-started” in order to be activated. The seat is 36.5-inch high and the max speed can go up to 55 mph (although this can vary and it depends on many different parameters). It should also be noted that the bike comes with a 4-speed manual clutch.
Similar to what we said about Coolster’s dirt bikes for kids, this is not a dirt bike for children who are new to dirt bikes for kids in general. If this is a very first dirt bike that you plan to buy for your child, I would rather choose one of the previously described models, even with the risk of your child outgrowing it.
Your loved one has to adapt to a more newbie-friendly bike before switching to a dirt bike that could easily be ridden by young adults as well. At the same time, the price might also be the factor that can seal or break the whole deal. If your child has no issues with these factors (and, obviously, if you have no issues either), this is certainly one of the best dirt bikes that you can buy for your 14-year-old child. At the same time, you can be sure that he/she will enjoy riding it for quite a long time as well.
- This dirt bike is one of the best Apollo’s dirt bikes for kids and it’s a great choice for a 14-year-old child.
- The dirt bike can be used just as effectively by both the children and the young adults as well.
- The bike has a modern design that will make it stand out from the crowd very easily.
- The price is quite expensive.
- This is not a good first choice for a dirt bike because it requires plenty of experience with other dirt bikes for kids.
40CC 4-Stroke Gas Power Mini Pocket Motorcycle (Generic)
And the last entry on our list is a very universally designed dirt bike that can be just as effective with 14-year-olds as well as the younger kids in general. If some of the previous models had a high learning curve, this one is completely the opposite of that.
You can tell this is a dirt bike with a very user-friendly (or should we say “child-friendly”) design because the first thing that you can easily spot is that the dirt bike is only capable of going (up to) 18 mph. This is a huge plus in my book but, if you want a dirt bike for an experienced child, this will simply not be enough.
It should also be noted that the bike has both the front and the rear disc brakes and the weight capacity is set to 165 lbs. This is a 40cc dirt bike with 4 stroke-engine but, we have to add that it doesn’t have an air cooler (sadly). While the dirt bike is able to perform very well long-term speaking it’s still not really designed for very long rides (like some of the recently described dirt bikes for kids).
It really depends on what you want from a dirt bike. If you are looking for dirt bikes for kids that are designed for experienced children, this is not a good choice. On the other hand, if you want a dirt bike with an easy learning curve even if we are talking about a 14-year-old child, this dirt bike has our recommendation. The price is very reasonable and you should definitely expect to get what you pay for.
- This is one of the best dirt bikes for kids for children who are still inexperienced with dirt bikes, even at this age.
- The learning curve is really nice.
- The bike has an EPA certificate of safety.
- Just like some of the previous dirt bikes for kids were not suitable for beginners, this one is not a good choice for an experienced 14-year-old child.
- The engine doesn’t have an air cooler and is not designed for very long rides.
What a lengthy read that was, huh? So, those were our 20 best dirt bikes for kids that you can buy in 2018. We have plenty of different models, from the ones that are designed to resemble the traditional bicycles all the way to quad bikes.
At the same time, some dirt bikes for kids are more fitting to beginners while others are made for experienced riders already. No matter which one you choose, all of them have their pros and cons and no dirt bike is perfect. But, as soon as you determine the needs of your child as well as your budget and, as soon as you know what kind of dirt bike you are looking for, there’s no way you can go wrong! At all! A good info is a key to a successful purchase…
